Basilica Papale di San Pietro in Vaticano
You haven't seen Rome until you see the view from atop the Vatican Cupola. Get your comfortable walking shoes out of the closet (no pun intended) and get ready for a 400+ staircase climb to the top. The panaramic view is not to be missed.
Like nothing you have ever seen
The sheer size of it all is beyond belief and the amount of marble and gold made me take a moment (as someone raised Catholic) to think about how the church actually got all the money to build this palace - a palace more grand than any king's palace I've seen. A *must* stop. And do hit up the Vatican Museum next door while you are here.
Massive, really beautiful
We have had the pleasure of Visiting St Peters twice over the years and it is massive. You really need two days to absorb all of it. he views from atop of surrounding Rome are spectacular. The Basilica from within is as you would expect, ornate. The Catholic church really shows how wealthy and extravagant they were.
